West Salem, Illinois | Friend and distant relation buys 3-4 feeder steers from me every year to fatten out for his family and for something to do during the winter months. So I called the local Producers barn to ask what 500-600 pound steers, double vacinated, implanted, cut with a knife, green, colored were worth. Short pause and he comes back with well with out seeing them I would have to say $1.10 to $1.12. Well I all but crashed the truck, and than asked him how many could he locate because I would buy all I could for that money! Is my little area of South Eastern Illinois really that depressed, or is this what you all are seeing for this type of cattle? | |
