Morris, IL | We have done it with mixed success. Did 200 acres of it two years ago and three years ago on HEL ground. It worked pretty good. Did it last spring into 200 bushel flat ground with not as much luck, just a little to much trash for a naked row unit to handle. It hair pined and had some stand issues but they did yield right with conventional. For next year we are going to get a set of row cleaners to help with hair pining and i think it will work a lot better. Our planter is a JD7200 with liquid fertilizer single disc openers. I'm thinking the single disc openers will cut the residue and then use floating martin row cleaners to move it aside. I think it will work pretty good, might try some strip till soybeans as well. | |
