Minneota, MN | Or consider using Google Docs/Drive for a cloud-based alternative for spreadsheets. I'm a tried and true Microsoft Excel guy, but I have found Google Docs very useful. I especially like that I can pull up and edit a Google spreadsheet from my laptop, my smartphone, or any computer with an internet connection. Also works great to share spreadsheets with others.
I also have used Open Office/Libre and they are both excellent (and the price is right).
