Subject: RE: Accuracy of Deere's SF1 vs. Ag Leader using WASS

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
I did side-by-side testing of a JD iTC on SF1 and a Trimble 252 on WAAS a few years ago. The SF1 is a more stable signal, both in terms of it having less overall drift, and the drift it does have is smoother than WAAS, which tends to "jump" more.

Upgrading from SF1 to SF2 is not a huge change. From what I can tell, it is actually the same correction data stream, just with noise added in when you use the free SF1.

Upgrading from WAAS to OmniStar XP/HP is a big change, as OmniStar is considerably better than WAAS.

GLONASS improves your ability to operate around trees and other areas where you have a limited view of the sky. It also speeds up the convergence time when you first turn the receiver on (if you're using SF1/SF2 or OmniStar G2). Under a clear sky, GLONASS does nothing for accuracy.
