| We won a down cow battle a few weeks ago. She did the full-out splits in the freestall. Got her out on the grass, put her legs back under her, gave her dex, she tried to get up but very weak in the hind end. Gave her feed and water. Checked later in day. Same old thing. Not even halfway up. Was ready to call down cow truck in the morning. Brought her water in the morning, kicked her in the butt just for the heck of it, not thinking it would work or anything. She got up! Weak but got up. Stammered around some, took a few weak steps, and laid back down on the other side (good). Let her rest for an hour. Went back and checked her, kicked her in the butt again and got up again! This time walked her to a shed and locked her in. Has been good ever since. I have got to say that this is a rarity, that a cow gets up after 24 hours of being down. | |
