The radishes take up nutrients but by plowing in the fall they break down much quicker and may release them earlier (N) then the succeeding crop will take them up making them subject to leaching. I suppose there are reasons to moldboard plow but I don't know what they would be in the context of lessar soil disturbance equipment availible these days.
