I'll finish up planting triticale today so we are almost in the same boat so to speak. I'm comfortable planting corn into cereal rye- just assume there is 0 nitrogen and make sure you get some N in the row at planting. I'd suggest killing the cereal rye at 12" since you are doing it the first time. Weather or not planting any cover this late will pay or not is anybody's guess. But what i do know is when is grows in the spring i won't be losing as much N to leaching. Plus the value of biological activity has some merit i believe.
