Clatonia, NE
I'm not grey haired yet, but getting close. I've been around precision ag since 2000. Adoption of precision ag will mean different things to different people. The main thing to remember is that if the system doesn't work it isn't worth anything (no matter how much you paid for it). Find a good dealer that will fit you with the best system and provide service on the equipment after the sale. Whether it's OEM (Red, green, or whatever) or aftermarket (A.L., Trimble, etc) it's only as good as the dealer that sells it. Also, education is very important. Make sure you get a basic understanding of the technology so you can solve some problems on your own. Finally, keep updated on the industry and be aware of what is available to you and who offers what capabilities. If you do these three things, precision ag will pay huge dividends on your farm!
