Rivers, MB | Their is a family in church with 2 boys that have autism. Age 7 and 9. Very active boys who come down for Sunday school. They tend to just run around and do whatever they please and cause a fair bit of disruption. We would like to channel some of that enthusiasm and make it a good time for them. We do not want to have to have their parents down with them during Sunday school (same time as the service) so that the parents can have a bit of a break. They have to struggle with that all week, surely we can make it work for 45 minutes. They do not like to sit (and will not on their own) quietly during the singing portion and like to "push" whatever boundaries are set out for them. It makes it difficult because we have a rotation of helpers and teachers for Sunday school so it is tough to have a consistent approach with dealing/helping with these boys.
Any advice? | |
