Subject: Hotel / Motel etiquette

East central Iowa

Silly me.  I thought Hotels and Motels were for weary travelers trying to catch a nights sleep.  Evidently I was wrong.  We spent the night in Dubuque rather than drive back.  However the tumbling group in the room above us felt that the floor exercises should continue until 11 pm.

Then at some point the night the late comers (spelling?) decided to see if slamming their door would shake the entire motel.  And lacking the ability to hear well they needed to talk either at the top of their lungs or yell and laugh uproariously.

Then of course in the morning the early risers have to bang their way down the halls because after all the halls are only 8 feet wide and they have to form a phalanx to thwart any other movement in the hallway.

When I was in Texas I had a top floor, corner room and it was great.   Unfortunately that isn't always possible.  And no matter how nice a motel or hotel we stay in there seems to be some ignorant person or group that have no regard for their fellow beings.
