Guymon, OK | I was in the OKC area last weekend, staying at the Best Western in Yukon. Long story short, I got food poisoning or something on Saturday and consequently didn't get a bit of sleep during the night. Since I didn't have to be anywhere on Sunday until noon I decided to hang up the Do Not Disturb sign and try to sleep my troubles away Sunday morning. My brother, staying across the hall, also told the front desk that I didn't want to be bothered. It was around 11:00 when I woke up from a deep sleep with a faint memory of someone knocking on the door, then the door actually opened and the maid stuck her head in. I was not happy. I realize it's company policy to clean rooms every day, but when you're told that the occupant of a room is sick and wants to be left the math alone, you leave him alone.
In the maid's defense, the sign on the door didn't actually say "Do not disturb," it said "Quite please, I'm dreaming of reward points." I suppose that could be taken as "disturb all you want, as long as you don't make a lot of ruckus." | |
