No till and cover crop benefits are subtle and long term other than erosion control,,any one year can get ugly but so can conventional methods in my area,,we hired a neighbor in 1966 and bought our own no-till planter in 67,,not everybody has 20 feet of top soil or even 20 inches,,,you can mine the soil or try to build it up and grow a crop both
