I too have gumbo and started planting them 2 years ago to break up the soil, i planted them behind small grain as i need it for straw and feed. This year i also starting planting earlier maturing corn and beans, so i can get them planted in order to some growth on them. Wrong year to try it with the drought everything dried up prematurely. So it was not a good test if it would work or not this year.
