Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
We are in perfect double crop country, and all I ever think, is man I wish we weren't in double crop country. We basically have the same growing season as you except for we have july and august in the middle of it. So the corn always drys up and dies before it puts on it amazing yield and double croping seems to work well.
The problem is. I plant corn in april, beans in may, combine wheat in june, plant double crop beans in july , combine corn in august and september, plant wheat in october, and combine double crop beans in november and december. There is a reason the lawns never get mowed and the equipment never gets waxed around here , people are too busy working there life away on a double crop system. Two crops in one years always seems to be double the work in my case. I wish i could just go to corn on corn, it works well on years that it rains in may and june.
