As long as the planter is in great shape I wouldn't be too worried.
As for the liquid, when I ran for another custom farmer he had the tank mounted on the nose of a jd 8400. Pump was hydraulic about five feet back on the planter from the 3pth.
Hope that is clear as mud and gives you some crazy ideas
