western iowa | Replaced the hydraulic pump on my 6620 after the shaft broke off (make sure the rubber torsion flap is in good condition, when mine broke free the pump shaft broke too ) local welding shop got the broken stub out of the main shaft. They say JD has a special tool to use to tighten it but, I got a used pump from the salvage yard and they used a good 12" crescent wrench turned down tightly on the flats and a hammer to tap it loose. That is how I replaced it on my combine also. The pump I got from the salvage yard was bright green and had been replaced shortly before they got the combine and saved me quite a bit of cash over a new JD parts one. | |
