I absolutely appreciate the dialogue, Tim, thats why i posted the detailed plot data. I will get some pics up later as I'm heading out soil sampling now. The wheat was cut about 12" high and straw spread back out. I have a 915 flex head cause we only do 2-300 acres of wheat and beans with smaller fields so it's adequate. What that means is straw spreading is very even across the width of cut so that isnt an issue. And by planting time the "tallest" stubble was in the no cover strips. The oats pretty much laid down because they didnt quite head out last year and the drill knocked down some of the wheat stubble. Visually good ground cover on all, maybe best with no cover crop? Didnt do any measurements. It has myself and bb940p stumped and scratching our heads. He's a neighbor across the fenceline.
