NEMO
I am truly trying to help you figure this out so it may help me later. My question for you is did all 3 treatments have a large amount of standing wheat stubble? Where I had rye as a cover and terminated it early, it layed over and made a mulch and I had no problems with it loosing moisture. On the other hand, my brother terminated his rye much later and it never layed down flat to make a mulch and instead acted like a wick when we had 30 mph winds and 90 degree temps. It dried his soil out really bad. So I guess what I am asking is did the the 3 treatments have the heavy wheat stubble in a different conditions.
