Did not look at the monsanto study. A 38" twin row center leaves about 30" between the rows for tractor tires to travel. Wide corn heads take less row units making them lighter. Strip tilling on 38" centers takes less row units on a wide implement and pulls easier. Some farm equipment companies are playing with the concept. 20" rows are hard to spray down etc.
