We rana 2062 (974) on our 7010 for a couple years then traded for a 2162 (FD70). If at all possible I would recommend going with the FD70 as it's a much better head IMO. Belts are reversible on the FD70, not on the 974. You don't have the pump to hookup with on the FD70 and it has a built in wedge kit plus a few other improvements such as hyd sickle drive. If you do go with a 974 be sure to get one that has the wedge kit or if you have rocks it will be othing but a rock scoop. Our 2062 didn't have the first year we ran it and was always picking up rocks, even in fields we didn't have rocks. Put a wedge kit on the second year, helped but didn't solve the problem

A 2388 would easily handle a 30', you could even go up to a 35'. Our 2062 was a 36' . They were offset to the right about 2'. Not sure if the other 974s were offset. It was kind of a pain to run but with autosteer it was ok once you got the field opened up. Did make it easier to unload on the go . The 2162/FD70s are all centered.
