I read a lot of guys here saying you can "start earlier & run later" with a draper head. I presume they mean run later in the work day after it gets "damp" & tougher. With an ordinary auger platform (JD), we have beans that start pushing ahead of the sickle that usually tells you it's time to quit. So, my question.....how is this different w/drapers? The ones I've seen have the same sickle/guards as auger platforms & I can't see how it would enable you to run later w/a draper when a platform would be "pushing". What would make the draper NOT push in damp beans? I would assume the answer would be the same whether it's CNH, MacDon, or JD equipment.
