Subject: CIH spreaders and spreading residue

Bourbon, Indiana
Running a 1680 and can't get the soybean residue spread very good, I"ve tried every spreader bat that CIH has and still can't get a spread any wider than 15'. I'm running a 25' head and most of the residue just gets thrown straight out the back. I"m not talking about the hulls from the sieves but the residue from the rotor itself. I don't have a chopper and am beginning to think thats most of my problem. What I have is the wide discs, curved bats running with the smaller pully to speed it up and have the deflecter up in the back hood to direct residue directly on the spreaders. Its like the long stems get put on the spreaders but 1 cupped bat can't grab it enough to throw it sideways, both bats grab it and just throw it straight out the back.

Am I missing something?

thanks
