It appeared that RCD had a problem with the coil, nothing to do with the electronic ignition. I put a Pertronix kit on my IH 544, including a coil from Pertronix. It ran perfect for a while, but the coil started getting weak, and missing when hot, so I put the original coil back on. Has ran perfectly ever since. I highly recommend the electronic kits.
