Are you speaking of a Ford F series? If so it depends on the trim level. With a center console we just use some two sided tape and put the radio in the pocket on the driver's side of the console. On the ones with the full bench the front of the center seat has a metal backing behind the carpet. A couple of self drilling screws work well there.
