Subject: Re: Fall garden pictures

East Central Arkansas
I normally prepare the ground and bed it with the same implements we use on our row crops. I drag the beds off with a old 6 row do-all we keep here to use in the garden. After dragging the beds off for the broccoli and greens I used a one row roller behind the lawn mower to firm and smooth the bed some more. I use a Earthway push planter with a special small seed plate for the greens and broccoli. The plate is like a one inch drop but I stopped up two holes together and leave one open all around the plate to drop less seed. I use JB weld to fill the holes. I would like to buy one of the better push planters, I think Jung was the brand name, but I don't want to spend the $500 plus to find out how well it works. I used a Troy Bilt tiller between the broccoli rows. The purplehull pea patch you see in the picture was planted with the same JD planter that we use for cotton, soybeans and corn.
