I had the same issue with my 1066. After a bunch of stuff, new batteries, etc, etc, it turned out to be the wire coming from alt to battery was loose at alt. there was another wire with an "o" connector under the main wire to the battery and it would work the whole thing loose. I had tightened it, but didn't realize the vibration and the two O connectors were sliding like ice on each other.
1066 runs the battiers down
