it's rare that one could drain a battery through the large output wire. I've never seen it myself. Sounds like you may have a 1 wire hookup. These do make a small drain on the battery when not running. Usually it's not of any consequence, but unhook it and see if there is much of a spark when you UNHOOK the wire. There can be a nice spark when you first touch the big wire to one of those and it still be OK. After removing the altarnator connections, check as described below.

If you don't want to wait a day or two to see if each thing you unplug fixes it, remove a battery cable from the battery (if there are two batteries, remove the ground connection from the frame), and put a test light or Volt meter (one with a buzzer is nice) in between. The light should burn if anything is draining the battery. The buzzer is nice since you can hear it go quiet as you disconnect circuits/pull fuses etc.
