Alternator X2, In the past 2 years I had at least 4 NEW Rebuilt alternators with bad voltage regulators that did that very thing. Delco with the 3 wire plugin. Some of them overcharged, some charged OK, but ran batteries down in a couple days.

What is the best way to check the alternator?

How I isolated the alternator before: I unhooked the hot wire on the back of the alternator for 1 week and the battiers stayed up. Is this the best method?
