Near-north Ontario, French River
An 8LL can and will take an amazing amount of abuse and its easier to learn ( but not by much) than a 13sp, but only because a new driver doesn't have to master 'splitting' the top gears. For a short haul, heavy load , out of the field ( wet and dry) an 8LL would be my first and only choice for a farm truck. I've pulled out of wet fields, 140,000lb gross with 8LL, just drop it in bull low ( flip the little blue button while in low range), and let the clutch out. You will run out traction before you run out of low end lugging with the 8LL. Only place an 8LL falters somewhat is for highway running, the jump between 7 and 8th is a bit big but not a real big issue, just have to rev'r right out before dropping into 8th.
