I just do not understand why builders do not take the same truss for 7.5 o.c. and go back 5 o.c. and forget about hanging the extra lumber, heavier tin , and labor .... I would rather have more trusses and lighter steel hanging , and all said and done I dought there would be much price diff. and should have a higher snow load. what am I missing ?
Truss's are disigned for their load - a truss designed for 5ft o.c. would not hold the load, when spread out to
7.5 o.c. -
If designed for 7.5o.c., then spaced at 5 o.c., then you'd get a heavier snow load.
The truss mfg's around here, have them engineered to the very pound/sq ft load. Heck, they only use 2x3 for webbing on lighter loaded buildings / homes . . . . . . . . They save a ton on material, when the building boon was on
(prior 2008
).
