Subject: Re: friesen bar ?

New Waverly, IN
We had a JD 1780 with high floatation tires. This was a 23 row 15" planter with no till coulters and liquid fertilizer single disc openers( a very heavy planter). With the wheels in front of the bar it made it easy to sink as the tractor really wasn't carrying much of the weight. It actually had negative tonge weight when lifted! If you had to plant in soft conditions it was a nightmare as the wheels would just plow deeper if you tried to lift any going through a wet spot. With everything that we had on that planter trash clearance around the wheels was also an issue. One positive of the wheels in front meant that it was easy to turn and jocky around. Overall, I was very happy when it left.
