Subject: Plastic headlight lens restoration [pictures]

East Central Arkansas

We recently got a car that the headlite lens were so faded that you can't see at night with the lights on low beam. I picked up a 3 M restoration kit the other day and tried it out this evening on the low beam part of one of the headlites. While I was picking the kit up at O'Rileys I asked if they could get the lens. He looked it up and said $200 and some. I was a little leary of taking a sanding disk to the lens so being that the high beam part still was in fair shape compared to the low beam section I only did the center low beam section untill I found out how well this kit would work. From what I see I should have gone ahead and done the whole lens. This is one of the kits that has the mandrel pad that you use in a electric drill that you put the different grit sanding disc on.
