couple of comments.........

17 states represented (FYI USDA uses 18 so not bad at all, maybe they need to pay attention)............had some no locations represented by nl............and one from Canada.........total of 92 responses.........

working backwards..........question 3............had 4 YES.........not surprising, most know the reality of experience with variability........

question 2...........about a 40/60 split of YES to NO..........not suprising either........IMO thats about we are at.........interesting thing is if you break the states out at quick glance........IA is weaker, IL is stronger...........other majors are about equal split by hanging by a thread.........MO and KS are in trouble..........

question 1.............the meat and potatoes of this survey............12 years represented............top 5 are here...........

2004-18
2008-10
2009-26
2010-12
2011-12

take home message............variability of soils, weather patterns, cropping systems, topography and so on mean VARIBILITY.............the more acres the more VARIBILITY..........the higher the yield target the more VARIBILITY plays into the equation..........

whats good for the goose may not be good for the gander.............

VARIBILITY does not equal records.............many of you have been involved in some sort of team contest in your life............typically the TEAM THAT WINS is the one that has consitantly higher individuals scores...........NOT NECESARILY THE HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL SCORE...........it is very rare occasions that the winning team has the top 4 highest individual scores, and IMO 166 is the winning team taking 1, 2, 3, 4 in the individual standings.............

and IMO this will continue, because trendline is now into outter space territory where the slightest hickup takes it off the table...........

final thought...........remember that trendline from 2000-2011 is around 158............and the average is 148.............makes 166 seem like a perfect year, in 2025...........

anyway, enjoy and thanks for sharing..............
