Faunsdale, AL | The most likely reason for a coil to fail is that the plunger is hanging up. Until the plunger pulls in the amperage is a LOT higher. Once it pulls in, the "holding" amps are low enough that the coil stays cool. Might have some sort of residue in the valves that's causing them to hang up. It hangs up and you hold the switch a second too long and by the time you get out to check it, it's open. Probably shouldn't be that easy to ruin one, but.................
X2 on getting out the ohm meter. Unfortunately checking better than just saying "open" or "good" isn't real easy with an ohm meter. The proof is whether it will open the valve, not what it reads! | |
