Cows may not bother the fence as much but snow will definitely cause more damage with six wires. I'd say most of the fence I have to fix is because of snow, not cows.

Your six wire fence looks good, and will last a long time if it is not where snow will get it. Last fall I hired a crew to fence out a dam and a tree plot according to EQIP specs. I used 4"x7' wood line posts, 6' 1.33lb steel posts. One wood, two steel. 6"x8' brace posts and crossbars were also required by EQIP specs. 4 wires of Red Brand 2pt evenly spaced with the top wire at 42".
