My county spent the last decade upgrading the tarred roads to 10 ton limits. Cost a little, but over all I think it was a good thing. Brought some conformity to it all. I think the neighboring county is trying to do the same now. Nicollet & Brown.

I understand over the winter can be 'frozen' permits where some roads (state?) are allowed a 10% overload, because the ground is so hard the road can take more. Of course, I think it's a fairly costly permit to take advantage of this, and then trouble if you need to use a non-permitable road somewhere in your path.
