I think you are worrying about something that is not an issue. Almost always had a much smaller pin in than what tractor accepted. Never had an issue. Used to move auger a lot and sometimes if i had to unhook I wouldn't even drop the pin back in. Auger should not be moving to where the slop would be an issue.
