Subject: small sand blasting job.. what's the best paint

Near-north Ontario, French River
Hey guys I recently re-acquired my childhood tonka toys, I thought they had been destroyed when I was a kid but mom had saved them all these years. The paint is tough and some minor corroded spots but otherwise the toys are in good shape I'd like to sand blast these, repaint them and give them as a gift to a good friends youngest child. The blasting is easy enough, we've got a small blaster that will work just fine, but what do I use for paint? The trucks seem to be painted galvanized tin?? Will the blasting take the galv off? If it does I would think a can of spray on primer followed by a couple of coats of rust paint would work, but what if the galv doesn't come off? Will standard spray on primer stick to galvanized?
