North Carolina | Well we are probably talking about 2 different types of welding. But I can spray weld ( what we call it ) with my mig.
When welding with a mig you have that distinct crackle sound. Thats the electrode (wire) hitting the surface or getting real close and melting. Then popping back and doing it again and again. With spray welding, (like I do) the electrode (wire) is melted as soon as it exits the tip and is sprayed to the surface.
And the sound it makes is a humming sound. To get it to do this is to turn the voltage way up and turn the wire speed up till it does a good job. Make a nice smooth weld.
