Statesville, NC | I was considering a vehicle to get back and forth to fields, and I am mostly a one man show. Would tow behind a grain truck or possibly combine. I found a Bronco II automatic with manual transfer case. Could you tow it with the transmission in park and the transfer case in neutral? Do all the manual transfer cases have neutral? |

Thumb of Michigan | We towed a Ranger (actually, towed a lot of different pick ups) like you desribe for a long time. Always ran the auto trans and transfer case in N, the motor running to lube the automatic. |

Northeast CO | I think you could pull it just fine like that, not all vehicles have a neutral setting in the transfer case, mostly the push button 4wd's |

| How about a chevy s10 4x4 with auto trans |

| Any 4X4 with a N in the Transfer Case is OK , engine doesn't need to be running . nothing ahead of the TC turns if it's in N , just like nothing behind TC turns when engine is running and TC is in N |

| Years ago I had a chevy pickup and always towed it with the transfer case in N, but I left the engine running because of the power steering. |

Northeast CO | As long as you dont turn the key back far enough to lock it, it will steer even with the engine off. Ive put a lot of miles towing rangers/s-10's behind equipment, the big no no is not taking it out of 1st if its a manual. (I haven't done it, yet) |
