Ladoga, IN, United States, North America, Earth | Just to make sure, you have updated your Seedstar system on that planter to Seedstar2 correct? The original Seedstar is a 4/5 CAN system. Assuming that you have updated your planter to the right Seedstar version, there will be a square CAN connector on the harness that you will be able to tie the rate controller into. That will give you a rate controller on the planter and then you can wire the one up in the cab.

I believe a 2001 planter would have been Gen 2. Does the Seedstar 2 require the display to fold the planter? The Gen 1 and Gen 2 had a fold box.

Ladoga, IN, United States, North America, Earth | Seedstar Gen 2 didn't start until 2004. All 1770NT CCS and 1790 planters are Seedstar Gen 2. There was a CAN Fold option, which I believe is what he has that would have used the display to fold. If he didn't have the CAN fold option all of them would have a seperate fold box.

SE IL | OK. I had a 1999 1770 at one time and when I got a 2000 or 01 1990/1860 I had to update the display/harness on the tractor and update the wedgebox on the 1770 so they would be compatible. I thought the 1990 cart was a 2.5 system and that's why I had to update the rest. So I figured they changed the row planters at the same time.

the system uses 2.5 terminators and the wedge boxes are gray. i have added pp20/20 rowflow to control jds hydraulic drive but still need CAN for folding the planter. dealer is fairly new to gs stuff not sure where or how to tie into planter thinks needs a second CAN and aditional wires back to planter as if rate controller was on pull type sprayer is it possible the seed star was upgraded when prevision owner upgraded to hydraulic drive ?

Ladoga, IN, United States, North America, Earth | What you will need is a PF90553 harness. Since you already have an ISO harness ran, you should be able to find a Round CAN connection near the center of the planter with a terminator plugged into it. The PF90553 will have a Round to Square CAN adapter that will allow you to hook the rate controller in by removing the terminator connection and plugging the round CAN plug in. Run the 3 pin grey connector up to the tractor and plug the PF90550 harness into it to get your footswitch and constant power to the rate controller. And if I remember right you will find a 2 pin weatherpak connection to break apart and plug this harness into that connection to get your high current power. Weatherford, OK | I have a 1770 with CAN fold and I put a rate controller on it and tied it into the CAN on the planter and then when I powered everything up I lost the planter and could not get it back. Even had AMS guy come out and he told me that the CAN frame control was not compatible with the rate controller that is why there is no more CAN frame control. So I updated mine to normal frame control via AG express and put seedstar2 on the planter. I figure if I had to buy a wedge box I wanted a new one. Deere says that you have to put a new harness in, but I just rewired the old one. I would say you have to get rid of the frame control or run a separate can and desplay for the planter and rate controller. Edited by Farmerjh 1/25/2012 23:52

I have 1780 early 2000s we tried to make a 2630 work and would have needed to change wedges .when you put a 20-20 in grandrivers did you have to change wire harnesses to control the moters to use the brown box box for folding and hydralic functions?
