Subject: Planter Monitor?

serena, il
Dad and I recently purchased a 2007 1760 planter with Accucount seed tube sensors. It came with a Computer Trak 150 monitor, as the sellers have a 20/20 setup they chose to keep. A 250/350 monitor is what I'm after, but if you were starting fresh, what would you chose? Row clutches are something I have considered, as well as guidance/steering. One monitor to plant and harvest with seems very appealing. We have a YM 2000 (Ag Leader) in our combine now, and I plant with a Computrak 200. What do you think I would be happy with. (99% JD iron)

If you are starting from fresh and getting a new monitor i would sure look twice at the 20/20 or agleader advanced seed monitoring. Have a 20/20 here and it is truly amazing what it can see that a 250/350 wouldn't even notice. With agleader in the combine i would give them a shot too, i'm told they have a product that does a really good job of monitoring the planter also and it could serve as your yield monitor too. I'm told the 20/20 will soon do yield monitoring, i kinda banking on that because our PF3000 is getting tired. 20/20 will do row clutches and airforce. Agleader can do row clutches and auto steer. I have a John Deere 250 that i might be willing to sell you, email me if your interested.

If you are running a 2600 or 2630 for guidance AgExpress has a monitor that you can run on the screen.

Do you have any personal experience with the AgExpress monitor Smoothlander? I was almost tempted to get one last spring. I like the bar graph that is available.

I run agleader Integra for fert, variable rate hyd drives, advance seed tubes, and, guidance. I then sidedress with it, and put it in the combine for mapping. Still learning all the stuff it can do. I feel Ag leader is going to lead the industry.

Plan to add one to our 7300 this spring.

I am a precision dealer and I have sold 50+ 20/20 monitors and have not had anyone who is dissatisfied. I do the meters for most all of the customers so i am in contact with them on a regular basis so I know they are satisfied. Ease of operation and company focus are two primary reasons I would choose the 20/20. AgLeader is not a planter focused company, therefore how are they going to do as good of a job taking care of your planter needs and changes in the future. With that said, the thing that trumps all of this is your local dealer, you can have a crappy Precision dealer and an amazing AgLeader dealer and that would make me go with the AgLeader. I don't know where the line is on here for a dealer for a product giving an opinion on here is, but you are in IL and I am in SD so there is no way I would sell you anything, so I don't think this is an advertisement by me, just an honest opinion.

And PP is a planter focused company. How are they going to do a good job with their yield mapping system needs?

i am a precision dealer also and can say the same things. there is no doubt ag leader has a lot going for it. but for paying attention to all things on the planter the 2020 is best. most other monitors only measure population, acres and speed, all important but there is a lot more going on back there that is critical for max production. yeild monitoring and other things are comming soon

good point. the only thing that they are really going to be able to offer on the yield monitoring side is a correlation between what happened with the planter at the given time(location) you are seeing something on the ym
