One of our best friends dad got hit a couple of days ago. He was signaling to turn left and as he did a semi tried to pass and hit him. Spun the tractor 180 degrees and flipped on side. He was air lifted to memphis with compound fractures in both legs, broke ribs and a punctured lung. He has had surgery and is stable. Yall keep them in your prayers and be careful.

13 year got killed here roading a tractor. Your friend needs to count his blessings. It happens too fast, and no, I am none to eager to road a tractor, avoid it as much as possible.

Yuck, I've seen several bad wrecks like that (turning left) on here through the years. When I am turning left like that I start hogging the road bigtime before I have to turn left. OR I pull off to the right and stop until all the traffic clears. Moving equipment on the highway has gotten to be my #1 least favorite thing about farming.

I do the same. AS soon as oncoming clears we take out both lanes when it comes time to turn left. Way too many people ignore hand or turn signals. Even do it with patrols behind me. Not a boo from them. I also don't pull over unless I can get clear of driving lane.

Prayers sent. I always hate turning left with grain wagons you can't see. And you just don't know that "the other guy" is going to do.

Your friend is indeed lucky to be on the sunny side of the grass. I had to make a couple trips on the main hiway here with my coupe, visibility out the back is poor and I was very careful turning left.

People just can't wait to pass you.  Just yesterday, had my turn signals on with the tractor and rockpicker, was turning left and there were three car's approaching from behind.  Not a single one of them even so much as slowed down as they wizzed by me as I was about 100 ft. from the road I was turning left onto.  I had to come to a complete stop to let them pass before I could turn!   People's brains absolutely shut down and have " 0 " common sense when they see a peice of farm machinery.  The same day went to the same field with the 16 row stack fold planter. This is a very narrow state hwy.  About 150 ft. from a upcoming road with a car siting at the end of it.  Wouldn't you know it pulled out on the road towards me, and I had to about put it in the ditch to avoid her, she could have waited 5 seconds until I was past her.

Prayers!! God has more plans for him here on earth!

Something that gets me............semi's passing me as I am going up hill on a blacktop road in a no passing lane. Not just average truckers either. Has happened several times. I hold my breath. Grant it, I can only travel about 18-20 mph with 2 loaded wagons, but most of these guys are pulling a grain trailer! Thank goodness there has not been someone coming from the other way. Just because they think they can see farther than the top of the hill!! Sheriff's been notified.

I face a similar situation traveling with equipment to one of my places on a daily basis. I have already accepted that this is how I am likely to leave this world.

We quit moving over for cars now we just run the duals on the yellow line so they can't see to pass I call it drivers training. Very sorry to hear about your accident but its only time for all of us with farm equipment until we get hit. We farm on the edge of the twin cites metro and the people are just down right dumb it dose not matter how many lights we use they still pass on the left. I also started turning on the field lights to turn the hids back them off.

Prayers for a quick recovery. It's a shame so many people behind the wheel just don't understand the concept of slowing down.

Last fall I dropped some wagons in the field and headed back home on tractor, as I was turning left off of busy highway I was passed by a school bus! At an intersection on top of that! First off, school bus drivers are not supposed to pass anyone for any reason(told to me by a school bus driver) and they passed me at an intersection. Out of all people who SHOULD know how to drive safe and this is what happens. Afterwards I wish I would have gotten school name and bus number but I was so shocked at the time it didn't cross my mind.

Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
I have been run off the road three times by school buses. Thank god for field drives at all three meetings, otherwise it would have resulted in fairly catostropic wrecks. Of all the people driving, you hardly expect someone driving a bus to be Mario Andretti.

It's truely amazing that he lived. The gentleman that was on this tractor is my cousin's boyfriend's grandfather.
