My CCM went batty, throwing about 7 fault codes. I sent it to Ag Express Electronics for repair. It came back with the same problems as it went in with. I sent it back. They said the same chip was faulty the second time. Got it back again, still the same results. Swapped CCM with my 8770. The fault goes with the 8670 CCM. My 8770 CCM ran for over an hour in my 8670 with no problems.

Is there anyone else out there that can work on these CCMs? Does anyone know of a place to purchase a CCM (new or used) other than NH. They think I own a gold mine. TIA

Can't answer your questions Larry, but I am curious to know what NH is trying to get for a new one.

Hi Bern,

NH wants $2250 for a reman. Not sure if they offer new or what they'd want for that.

I think Vansco in Winnipeg Manitoba built those units. Local dealer used to send them there for repair. I imagine they still do.

Farmtronics has a CCM listed for that model for about $1050 exchange.

Is that the same CCM that Cat uses in the RC Challenger 35,45,55 line? Last I knew they had them. Can't remember the price though.

Larry - not sure running your other one for 1 hour is assurance that there is not something wrong with your tractor or another module on your tractor? If it is smoking the same circuit in the CCM it could be that you have a solenoid in your tractor that is drawing excessive current (or another module) and it is just that your other CCM is "hacking it" --- for now?

I say this because I know that Ag Express has the factory test jig and they actually remanufacture them for Caterpillar and New Holland -- so it isn't that Ag Express does not know what they are doing on these --- they do..............(if your getting a reman from someone - it has been reman'd by Ag Express)

They also do the RHC (right hand control module) and the EIC (electronic instrument cluster) for the Genesis platform of tractors.

Anybody have a list of the fault code meanings? Always a pain to get the dealer to look them up. Thanks

I just got the bill for my 8970 CCM from my Case-NH dealer, $1508 with exchange plus 108 to program it to my tractor. I agree with Tech1Tech2, If you have a problem in the tractor you could fry the next one you put in. Haven't got in the field yet to try mine out but it works in the yard but not much time on it. Mine didn't have any fault codes, just went blank. Have you looked up what the fault codes say was wrong?

Thanks fellas, for all the replies. I'll try to answer all the questions and suggestions in one reply, but am apt to miss a few. Please forgive.

Ag Express knows that my other CCM works in this tractor. They also know that this one shoots the same fault codes in the other tractor.

This controller is also bad from the get go. As soon as I put it back in the tractor and turn on the switch, it's faulty. I would think that if there is something in the tractor that's burning this thing as soon as the switch is turned on, the other CCM wiould not hack it in this tractor for over an hour.

I do have the shop manuals so that I can chase the fault codes. The most obvious one, which is the one Ag Express also cited as the culprit from the beginning as well, is 339 , CCM 5 volt supply failed high. I have chased it right to the CCM. For those who wish to know some of them are 314. 334. 339, 414, 416, 418. There may be others.

For those who wish to contact me, my email is open on this forum.

for those wishing not to have to go to NH for fault code interpretation all the time, Section 3 of the shop manual was available for purchase the last I knew. It is likely farily pricey by now though.

Thanks again!

Read email. CCM on its way back to Ag Express for the third time. When it comes back this time, the first thing I'm going to do is put it in the 8770 and see if it'll run there.

I also have Worthington looking for a salvage CCM for me.
