Subject: Planter row units per tractor HP

NE Iowa
Our setup has got to be on the upper end for # of row units per tractor Hp - 16 row planter behind 125Hp 4430 = .128. Lots of guys around here pulling 12 rows with at least 150Hp (0.08 ratio). A few huge guys pulling 48row with 450Hp (.107).

Our planter is a 12r 7100 bar with pivots each moved out 1 row (putting 8 rows on center section) and each wing lengthened by 1 row. Is a little challenging in transport, as the wings on 7100s don't go true vertical - planter is pretty wide going down the road. But, once in the field, it is a dream to operate.

Same tractor will be pulling a 15" 16row 7000 planter in a few weeks planting beans.
