Saskatchewan, big whitetail country!!!
It is a marketing PLOY, that feeds on consumers ignorance, fear, and modern day disconnect from agriculture. It depends on a marketing of the fear of all those bad "chemicals", bad anhydrous, and bad synthetic fertilizers. It relies on the urban mindset of a romantic notion of agriculture; One with small farms, old fashioned plowing, green manure, and the farcical "100 mile diet" It is absolutely impossible to guarantee what you are buying is indeed "organic". And finally, every country has different standards for the "organic" label, so how in heck can we assume "organic" asparagus from Peru, is actually "organic"?

I could go on all day about this. It is a man-made niche market that is being filled, which is fine, but based on illogical fear. And one more thing. Organic yields, and manure use do not match up. If everyone were organic, we would need to raise 10 times the animals to support the crops we now grow. All at the same time as burning more fossil fuels for tillage, and getting lower yields.

That is what is wrong with "ORGANIC".
