ND | I don't know a whole lot about JD planters. Just wondering if somebody could explain the differences between these models. Is there a certain model that is more problematic from the others? Are parts interchangeable? How tough is it to set them up for dry fertilizer and is it expensive to do? TIA |

WC Saskatchewan | 7100 and 7300 are 3pt hitch. |

Illinois | 7000 pull type, finger pickup, or plate style built in the 1970's, and 1980's.
7100 3 point, then same as the 7000
7200 pull type, vac planter, could order finger pickup yet, built 1990's,
7300 3 point, then same as above.
Then went to the 1780 models.in 1998 or so. |

| I know for certain that the row units on the 7000 and 7100 are identical, the parts books used the same drawing number for the picture and the same exact parts list. Probably the 7200 and 7300 are also the same, just the 7000 and 7200 are drawn and the 7100 and 7300 are three point. Some 7200 parts like the main clutch fit the 7000 planter which benefits from a better clutch design in the wider planters. I think much less swaps in the row units between the two families.
