Watching and listening to Stock Dog Auction on live auctions.tv . Had no clue what a good stock dog was worth . This sale is / was at the national western stock show. 3-4000 sounds steep, but watching what they do in their demos, would take a few hired men to take their place!

A deccent trained border collie in this country will bring up to 2,000 dollars. Many times a couple of good dogs are worth way more than having to wait for help or getting to much poor help . I've only got a so so heeler dog , she has saved me lots of riding . Plus she good to talk to .

You know 2000.00 sounds high for a dog but when you think about what folks spend on rangers and the high end four wheelers it is cheap. That dog will do alot of work for you and like you said you can talk to them too. It is hard to talk to a piece of metal. It would not take that dog 6 months to pay for itself if you were working much stock.

Central Saskatchewan Canada
here you can buy a well trained dog ready for cattle for $2500. Seems like alot but like others have said it really isn't when you think about what you spend on other things.

LOL! Or don't check the gas until you're a half mile down in the pasture and it's blowing 20 mph in your face as you walk back to the house on a cold day. Sounds like the voice of experience doesn't it?
