saw it today. 600 quadtrac 670 hp 113 gpm hyd 56000lbs all new frame, hood , cab interior, controls. up to 8 hyd outlets, uses DEF, but sounds like it's the best deal. 12.9 cursor engine with staged turbos. spring suspension on cab on all models. Impressive machine. new magnums are a lot different as well, and have cab suspension as well. no picts guys. FT

south Texas , York Rife Freemason | Imo - diesel exhaust fluid is the best way to go . The 13 L engine seems very small to me for the horsepower . I will be surprised if a 13 L engine stands up to that H.p , id almost bet its 1600 on torque .

Wheatley, Arkansas | Why do you wet our appetite on a new rig like this without the pictures to quench it?

Coloma WI 54930 | Tommy if you can get around 500 hp out of a 12.7, 600 doesn't seem that far away and the radiators on the big tractors seem quite a bit bigger than on road trucks. I agree there is no replacement for displacement but John Deere has been pushing mid to upper 500s out of 12.5 and the 13.5 for a few years. It will be interesting to see how far these engines make it. J. R.

When through JD engine works 8-10 years ago and they said something to the effect that they had a 12.5 cranked up to 900hp and they were testing it had 4-5 hundred hours on it at that time checking to see if it would last, granted will be a long time or probally never see that much HP in an Ag tractor but they were checking the upper limit to see what she would do. Northeast Nebraska and Candelaria Philippines | i don't think displacement has all that much to do with longitivity. I think it has to do with the alloy used, the size to the bearings and crank. The cooling ability. The ability of the injectors to evenly inject the fuel, the cooling channels in the engine, ect. I would think smaller displacement with more power would be more effiecent.

A tractor engine can be loaded to 100% for hours .

NEMO | Is that the muffler on the other side of the 600? From that perspective it looks HUGE!

That is really funny, now the big Case tractors have a smaller engine than the Deeres, and all the Case-Cummins-displacement geeks will keep their mouth shut, because Tony, the Case-pope himself said yes and amen to that. P.S.:We run a chipped STX 480 with 618hp max and a chipped STX 485 with 638hp max on our farm:-) Both tractors have steinbauer power modules. Edited by Jaydee 7/15/2010 12:32

Wheatley, Arkansas | That's why a lot of truck engines have 30,000 hrs and no engine work, very few tractors attain that many hrs before needing an OH.

Leeds, North Dakota | i know its a teaser, this is why mfgs won't let pictures beening takeing, all mfgs are this way, figured cnh would get away from cummins, don't agree, but why outsource, one thing to remember, european engines are lite years ahead of n/a, emissions much stricter, time will tell, one thing i don't like about iveco engine, gotta pull motor to put rods and mains in, split crankcase, as a tech thats why i like cummins, iveco's service manuals suck, not saying cummins are the greatest either, scott.

Pretty much, I've always hated the way the MX's look but have loved the STX's. I guess I hate both now.

AGREE, let the Steiger be a Steiger! I have never liked that stupid MX grille and never will. Looks like a big dumb nose cone on an airplane.
