Stayner, Ontario, Simcoe County
Anyone revise 1083 to fit a 5088 - 8120 series combine.
If so changes required.

5088-7088 can be done with changing the feeder housing back to old style , 7120-9120 you be getting a cornhead.

We're currently having a local machine shop retrofit a 1015 pickup header to fit an 8120. This same shop did a corn head for another guy last year I think. We went and took a bunch a pictures of a head that a farmer did himself to show this machine shop. If you have really good welding skills and a plasma cutter I think you could probably do it yourself. All it takes is to cut the main beam on the header and make it perpendicular to the back of the header, widen the feeder opening, and redo the drives.

the 50-7088 take the same head as 70-8010 and twentys. The 8120's have variable speed feeders so gearing on those is no big deal, but you can run into trouble using a 1000 series head on the newer combines. I would recommend updating heads to go with your combine, it will make everything go cleaner and smoother. There are getting to be several reasonable 2200 series heads that can be quickly converted to newer style. The 3000 series heads are alot like the 1083 if you like the pinching knife roll.

I'd rather convert than use the new holland/john deere copied head.

i like the 1000 series just as much as the next guy but i just cant see why a guy would put a 10 year old (or older) head on a new combine.
